WinEject is the primary software for CD/DVD Drive ejection and umounting as well as ZIP drive ejection and unmounting.
It is the primary and only software responsible for CD/DVD Drive ejection and unmounting.
WinEject works with all drives, including IDE, SATA, FDD, SCSI, USB, or IEEE 1394.
Everything from plain FAT32 to Windows file systems can be supported.
As the primary software for drive ejection/unmounting, WinEject is not confined to software or hardware driven interactions.
IT can be used with it’s original software and driver disk to uninstall a driver (e.g., delete an infine-loop CD), use the system’s defaults for ejecting the CD drive, or even use WinEject in Windows for the same purpose.
WinEject also comes with its own Driver (winEject.sys) that you can use to avoid that pesky INF file if you want to get rid of it.
WinEject integrates with Windows’ built-in Disk Management utility or you can use it directly in DOS.

Notes:
When doing *Eject and umount on Windows you are not seeing the drives anymore. Not the ones that are plugged out and do not even access anymore. And even if you are able to, they will not be ejected. They are still there and Windows is just being cautious.

WinEject includes anti-virus protection. The reason is that a lot of people do not know what to do with it and just delete it instead of understanding what it does.
WinEject’s protection is virus free since it is part of the original disc included with the software.
Once installed on your system, WinEject will start by scanning your entire C: drive for viruses.
If it detects any virus, it will not start.
WinEject is pretty fast, but you can help it by disabling certain tasks at the system level
