A new method for the preparation of polymeric networks in which the individual layers consist of electropolymerized monomers is described. The method is based on the formation of a copolymer in a nanoscale self-assembled layer-by-layer structure. The evaporation of water from the polyelectrolyte multilayers resulted in the formation of polymer networks. These networks are characterized by their water binding properties.(CNN) — Opinions over how to enforce immigration laws are often a matter of politics, but now, some immigration experts say they are also a matter of science. In a recent study to be published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, the panel of health care professionals surveyed Americans about a thorny issue: When should a person with diabetes be able to apply for legal permanent residence? The survey questions were inspired by similar discussions about a group of immigrants from the Caribbean called “dreamers” — people who were brought to the United States illegally as children, were granted temporary protected status to stay and have been fighting for permanent residency. Michael Allen, one of the authors of the study, said he’s never seen such a heated public debate on immigration, including how to handle the large number of people who were brought here as children. “We wanted to really emphasize scientific reasoning and data,” Allen said. “I’ve never heard this much national debate… on immigration.” In the study, researchers from Stanford University in California and the University of Minnesota used publicly available data to ask Americans about their beliefs about diabetes among immigrants. One question asked respondents whether they agreed with the statement: “My family would suffer if this person became permanently barred from the United States because of diabetes.” The study found that this issue was still somewhat controversial. About half the respondents agreed, 49 percent disagreed and 6 percent were unsure. Previous surveys have also shown “fair” levels of agreement on the question, says Lori Borders, a policy analyst with the Migration Policy Institute in Washington. The survey’s results were not entirely new, but it’s the first survey with a large sample size, and so it was “pretty conclusive,” Borders said. The researchers set out to see whether there are differences in opinion depending on people’s race or political affiliation c6a93da74d
