Forty-eight patients with ileocolonic CD treated with a standard induction regimen (induction therapy) and then maintenance therapy with adalimumab were enrolled in this study. In the induction therapy, oral mesalazine (2 g/day) was administered twice daily for 4 weeks. An anti-TNF-α antibody was administered intravenously as an induction therapy at a dose of 10 mg/kg at Week 0 and then 20 mg/kg at Week 2. The oral administration of mesalazine at 2 g/day was continued from Weeks 4 to 26, and the intravenous administration of anti-TNF-α antibody was continued every 2 weeks. At Weeks 4 and 26, blood samples were obtained for measurement of serum CRP and FC. The patients were divided into two groups according to their CRP and FC levels at Weeks 4 and 26: Group I (decreased CRP and FC): decreased FC (≤250 mg/g) at Week 4 and decreased FC at Week 26; Group II (increased CRP and FC): increased FC
