Photoshop’s Layers
Photoshop’s layers feature (layers in the main program, and layer groups in the Layers Panel) are designed to help you isolate individual elements of an image for editing. Layers are like a collection of mini-photos glued together on a page. You build composites by layering them on top of one another.
You can edit one layer on its own, and the others remain unaffected, which is very useful if you want to try out a different method on a separate area. You can blur the one layer and then move the layer’s thumbnail to another area, and the blurred area remains in its original location, as shown in Figure 1-1. Later, you can even untag that layer from that area and move it to another area so you can edit that layer without affecting the rest of your image. You can apply any filters you want on a given layer and when you’re finished, move it to the thumbnail area to reuse for another image.
Photoshop also has a selection tool that you can use to define precisely the area that you want to edit. You can then choose any of the other tools discussed in this chapter to do your editing. Most of the tools are layered, so you can save time by editing the layers and choosing how to apply the changes to the original image.
Photoshop’s Layers feature
You create layers in three ways.
The Layers menu (Windows) or the Layer menu (Mac), in the Photoshop Window.
The Layers palette (Windows) or the Layer palette (Mac).
The Layers Panel located in any Photoshop window.

Q:
PHP/MYSQLi Query Count single column and group by year
I am using a query to count the number of posts and posts with a certain status on my website.
However I do not get posts that are in 2013 and then sorted by number of posts per month (the index that currently shows the ‘only’ posts from the current month).
I do get the monthly count of the number of posts that is fine.
How could I modify my code to do this?
Here is the code:

Photoshop has a wide variety of pre-made filters that can be applied to an image or group of images. These filters have a vast array of uses. Some are useful for creating special effects, such as distorting the image, while others are more useful for creating a new aesthetic look to an image. To apply a filter, select the command in the upper right hand corner of the tools panel. Then select the filter from the drop down menu. To see the filter effects, you’ll need to make a selection from the image.
Effects are pre-made graphic tools that can be applied to an image or a group of images at once. They can be used for special effects like burning, blurring, or enhancing. Photoshop effects can be applied at once or in layers. To apply an effect to an image, select the command in the upper right hand corner of the tools panel. Then select the effect from the drop down menu.
Photoshop comes with many Photoshop Effects such as Gradient Map, Gaussian Blur, Invert and some of the Photoshop tools. To apply a Photoshop Effects create a selection from the layer and then select the command in the upper right hand corner of the tools panel. To change the opacity of the Photoshop effects click on the effect. It will turn translucent or transparent.
Photoshop has many predefined gradients that can be used with the Gradient tool. They are often used to create backgrounds or to give a sense of depth to an image. To create a gradient select the Gradient tool from the tools panel. Then click and drag to create the gradient.
To combine the different effects of a Photoshop filter or effect, you can use the Composite command. To use the Composite command select the command in the upper right hand corner of the tools panel. Then select the Composite option from the drop down menu.
Photoshop comes with Pen tools, which allow you to create and modify vector shapes. Pen tools can be used to create vector shapes for objects that are manually placed in the image.
The Marquee tool in Photoshop allows you to highlight an area of the image. To select the tool, press the spacebar and then hold the Alt and the Shift keys to open the tool.
