Q:
Multi-threading an Excel macro for dashboards
I have this simple macro for dashboards, which is rather slow when used on more than one dashboard. It works ok up to 15 dashboards, but then only 10 dashboards show the dashboard without the delay and the others show the dashboard but with a major delay.
Question 1: is the code that might be the problem?
Question 2: is there an equivalent for dashboards on the web?
Sub printDashboard()
‘Declaring variables
Dim dashRow As Long
Dim dash As Worksheet
Dim cnt As Long
Dim dashName As String
‘Setting Workbook variables
Set workbook = ThisWorkbook
‘Making the dash sheet active
Set dash = workbook.Sheets(“Report”)
‘Getting the number of dashboards
dashRow = dash.Cells(dash.Rows.Count, 1).End(xlUp).Row
‘Looping through the dashboards
For cnt = 1 To dashRow
‘Making the dash sheet active
dash.Activate
‘Adding the dash name to the name field of the name manager
dashName = dash.Range(“B” & cnt).Value
AddName manager.Name, dashName
‘Saving the name in a local string variable
dashNameStr = dashName
‘Selecting the parameters
With workbook.Sheets(dashName)
.Range(“a3”).Select
End With
‘Pasting the parameters
.Range(“a1”).PasteSpecial
.Range(“a2”).Select
‘Copying the dashboard
.Copy
.Range(“a3”).PasteSpecial
.Range(“a4”).Select
‘Pasting the dash name
.Range(“a5”).PasteSpecial
.Range(“a1”).Select
End With
‘Closing the dashboard
dash.Range(“a2:a5”).Select
‘Paste dashboard option
With Application
.ScreenUpdating = True
