8start Launcher (also known as “8Start”) is a part of a special family of standalone user toolbars, widgets and desktop shortcuts. Its intention is to enhance the functionality of the Windows desktop and provide simple access to frequent user actions.

The launcher should be self-explanatory and the installation can be very simply done via the main interface. I personally find it a bit confusing because it combines the concept of taskbars and application managers into one, but hey, it’s 8start’s killer feature.

Possibly the single biggest issue with 8start launcher is that for some reason they left an application out of the skin they have created for it. There are some ways to make the skin appear but they are hidden and are not easy to access. I would advise 8start launcher to either include an application or at least hide some options in the the choices they offer.

I installed the launcher on my desktop machine and the interface was very confusing and it took me some time to figure out how the launcher worked. After some time of playing around with it I can say that it is not really usable and the experience has been pretty frustrating. I did not like the way the launcher’s main window is presented and how the widgets behave. I did not like the fact that the widgets can be dragged all over the desktop and the launcher icon can be set to float. I wish that the interface was more clean and less cluttered.Q:
